The Israeli army said on Saturday that it had carried out airstrikes and artillery attacks against targets of Lebanese group Hezbollah in six different areas in southern Lebanon.

"Throughout the day, the army targeted Hezbollah in southern Lebanon," the army said in a statement.

"Earlier today (Saturday), fighter jets targeted a military building belonging to Hezbollah in the Tayr Harfa area," added the army.

According to the statement, the army conducted artillery shelling in the areas of Naqoura, Maroun al-Ras, Hanine, and Matmoura.

"Additionally, a tank targeted a military building in Kafr Kila where armed activities were observed inside," it added.

The army statement also noted that it "detected the firing of an anti-tank missile towards the Shetula area (northern Israel), as well as two rocket missiles towards Mount Hermon (Jabal ash-Shaykh), and responded to the sources of fire."

Hezbollah said in two separate statements on Saturday that it had targeted Israeli espionage equipment at the Al-Raheb site "with appropriate weapons," and hit a radar site in the occupied Lebanese Shebaa Farms area with rockets.

Tensions have escalated along Lebanon's border with Israel amid an exchange of cross-border attacks between Hezbollah and Israeli forces as Tel Aviv pressed ahead with its deadly offensive on the Gaza Strip, which has killed more than 34,600 people since last October following an attack by the Palestinian group Hamas.
